IUI (Intrauterine Sperm Insemination)

This is a simple procedure in which the female partner is given tablets and some injections in order for her eggs to grow. Once the egg is mature, a final injection is given to trigger the release of the egg from ovary. 36 to 40 hours after this trigger, the washed, good motile sperms of the partner are inserted into the uterus with the help of a small catheter. This is a 10 minute procedure, completely painless and one can resume normal work immediately on the day of the procedure. 3 to 6 cycles of IUI can be attempted in patients of unexplained infertility and mild male factor infertility.
